#theunDoneProject Project 2

#theunDoneProject, Soho House, 2016

My sketchbook is my church, my diary, my lover and my best friend; for this collection I decided to show her off. I am obsessed with showing the unity between loved ones. I am infatuated with the love between people and appreciate the connecBon that they share. Each painting expresses a particular bond through connecting eyebrows, noses and lips - big beautiful lips. Each variation in bonds distinguishes the dynamic relationships that have had a deep impact on my life. The eyes tell a story. Look closely: you will see the connection, disconnection or even domination in the relationship they share. The look and feeling of creating on paper allows me to be free. Through paper, oil paint, acrylic, and charcoal I able to express things that we all feel every day but cannot see. The Undone Project takes references from the facial characteristics of ethnic men and women culminating in a series of uncolored, sketchlike faces. The beauty of the Undone Project is in its simplicity and incompleteness. I relate closely because I consider myself an undone or ever-evolving project. - Quiana Parks
